Founder @ Humming Puppy
Beginning her career in the hospitality industry, Jackie eventually fell into the dental industry working her way up to managing practices for almost 10 years. During this time she was fortunate to work alongside people who were passionate about their jobs, for her though, teeth just weren’t her passion!! However; being surrounded by people who love what they do on a daily basis inspired her to find her passion and purpose in life.
Yoga had been calling Jackie for years but it wasn’t until 2008 that she came to the practise regularly in a search to regain strength and flexibility after she poorly managed a knee reconstruction. She became absorbed, practicing twice a week with her teacher and developing a daily home practise. She was initially unaware of the huge impact yoga was having on her holistically, combined with weekly Ayurveda treatments she began to notice subtle shifts in her energy, her behavior and her attitude towards life. She made more than a few life changes and began creating and living a life she wanted to live with integrity, trust and belief in herself.
Her love for yoga was obvious and many had suggested she undergo her teacher training but she ignored the suggestion for some time. However in 2013 it became clear to Jackie that yoga was her calling, so she decided to become a yoga teacher and undertake her teacher training, with the view to leave her job in dentistry and open her own yoga studio. Then, in 2014 over a cheesy Valentines Day dinner with Chris (her partner in both life and business) Humming Puppy was conceived. Less than 12 months later they opened the doors to their first studio in Prahran, Melbourne on the 2nd February 2105, followed by the opening of their second studio in Redfern, Sydney in April 2016. Currently they are working on opening their third studio in New York at the end of 2017.
Their studios are an expression of their creativity and a desire to make yoga accessible and appealing to people who would never have considered practicing before. It excites her to be able to share more of Humming Puppy with the world in the years to come. The teachings of yoga are the greatest gift Jackie has been given and to be able to share these gifts with her students who inspire her on a daily basis is something she considers as an honor.
